Conditions
Winter in the southern Atlantic sends long-period swell straight into Santa Catarina island, and Florianópolis catches it from multiple angles. Barra da Lagoa and the east-coast beaches offer punchy beach-break peaks, while outer bombies and less-crowded corners open up once you have a ski under you. Water stays in the 17-20C range through the season, so a 3/2 or 4/3 wetsuit covers it. Swell consistency from April through October means you can plan a week and expect multiple tow days.
